Pulling the cheese
Monday, July 19, 2010 at 1:52PM One of my designers recently discovered a new promotion from Domino's Pizza which takes people inside the world of food photo shoots. This is the closest representation I've ever seen recorded to what we go through on a professional set. I am absolutely in agreement with the hand model that food stylists are miracle workers. Take a peek on YouTube of their 3 minute video and if you feel like you can do a better job than a professional photographer, stylist and the 50 other people on set you can submit your own photo at www.showusyourpizza.com. The interactivity between the consumer and the brand is really well done in this promotion (even if it does devalue the gruelling hours we sometimes put it on food photoshoots).
Joyce Linehan

I should begin by saying that i don't know Joyce Linehan. As the co-owner/manager/general-ruckus-maker of Ashmont Records, her missives on life, the music industry and most importantly the state of The Pernice Brothers amuse me to no end.
For years now I have cherished the music of The Pernice Brothers... but also their newsletters (written by Joyce you see). I realize it seems a bit strange to have affection for a newsletter, but there we are and at least I've come to terms with it. I can hear your question looming... why? Do you get newsletters from bands, corporations, small businesses? Do you hit delete immediately? Yeah... me too. This is one of the few, neigh... the ONLY, newsletter that makes me giddy when it pops up in my inbox. The dry wit and humor with which she conveys the news of album releases, videos, tours, and occasional dog tidbits is totally charming.
Anyway, after spending the last month playing a hopeless game of Whac-a-Mole, sending out take down notices every time a new file popped up, dirtying my poor little laptop with all manner of disgusting viruses and STDs, and realizing that people who were stealing the album were hearing it before you, our friends, I broke our own “street date.” - Will they tour? Also, Pirates.
A few of my favorites are below. Prepare for heavy reading but hilarity along the way...
Will they tour? Also, Pirates.
Streaming 3 more songs and also an explanation for our silence.

Chipotle is running a fantastic cause marketing campaign over at chipotlejunk.com. If they can hit a goal of 500,000 junk mails, they will donate $50,000 to The Lunch Box to provide school children with healthy lunch options. They're making good progress, so help them out and send along a piece of junk or two.
